Fourteen days follows the same backbone and changes the pace, not the route. That is the whole idea: fewer consecutive transfer days, more time to actually be somewhere.

This is a self-drive itinerary. Roads connecting Punta Cana and Bavaro, La Romana and Bayahibe, Santo Domingo and Samana and Miches are paved highway for most of the distance, and driving is on the right. Day 1: Arrival at Punta Cana International Airport

Land at Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ), clear immigration with your printed or digital e-Ticket confirmation (mandatory, filled out before the flight), and pick up the rental car or a private transfer. Money and practicalities for the full two weeks

• Currency is the Dominican peso (DOP, RD$); US dollars are widely accepted at hotels and on excursions, but change usually comes back in pesos. There is no euro cash economy here.
