Bayahibe is a fishing village that has become the departure port for Isla Saona and Isla Catalina, inside Cotubanama National Park — not the islands themselves. Expect a working malecón, moored fishing boats and speedboats, and a port atmosphere rather than a resort beach.
From a Punta Cana hotel, reaching Bayahibe already takes 1h15-1h45 on the road, before you even board a boat, so this is not a quick outing from the Punta Cana seafront. La Romana is the nearest town, a short drive away.
Bayahibe sits on the coast, with temperatures around 26-31C year-round and a drier season from December to April.
