Things to do in La Romana

La Romana is a practical stop, not a beach destination in itself: the town has few notable beaches of its own, and its real value is location.

It sits roughly midway between Punta Cana hotels and the south coast, on the road toward Bayahibe (boats to Isla Saona and Isla Catalina) and Altos de Chavon, the replica Mediterranean village built in the 1970s above the Chavon river.
