Things to do in Boca Chica and Juan Dolio

Boca Chica is a calm, shallow lagoon beach about 20 minutes from Santo Domingo, popular with local families on weekends rather than with international resort crowds.

5-3 hour drive from a Punta Cana hotel: the honest case for it is as an add-on to a day already built around the Colonial Zone, and even then it stretches an already long day rather than shortening it.

Juan Dolio, a quieter beach town a bit further along the same coast road, works the same way, as a nearby option rather than a separate trip. Water temperatures sit in the same 26-31C range as the east coast year-round, so there is no seasonal reason to choose one over the other.
